GAZA May 06 (YPA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, on Tuesday, that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received 48 martyrs and 142 wounded during the past 24 hours, as a result of the ongoing intensive Israeli aggression on various areas of the Gaza Strip.
The ministry explained, in its daily statistical statement, that the death toll from the ongoing aggression since October 7, 2023, has risen to 52,615 martyrs and 118,752 wounded, in one of the bloodiest wars in modern history.
Since the occupation forces resumed their aggression on March 18, following the collapse of the ceasefire agreement, the Ministry of Health has recorded 2,507 martyrs and 6,711 wounded, bringing the total number of victims since the beginning of the war to 179,585 martyrs and wounded, in light of the inability of the health system and the near-total collapse of the health infrastructure.
The ministry indicated that there are still a number of victims under the rubble of destroyed buildings or in the streets, as intensive Israeli raids are preventing ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them.
A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States, entered into force on January 19, 2025.
However, the occupation government reneged on the agreement on March 18 and resumed its comprehensive military operations, despite Hamas’s commitment to all of its provisions.
