HADRAMOUT, May 06 (YPA) – The Electricity Corporation in the oil-rich Hadramout province, which is under the Saudi-led coalition in eastern Yemen, announced on Tuesday that the “Badra 2” station, with a production capacity of 10 megawatts, has stopped working.
The corporation noted that the Badra 2 plant joined the existing “Badra 1” and “Qaryo” power plants, which had stopped, exacerbating the electricity production deficit and increasing the frequency and length of power outages, particularly in the western districts of Hadramout.
The corporation attributed that to the lack of fuel needed to operate the plants, given the pro-coalition government’s inability to secure the necessary supplies and its failure to pay the debt for the purchased energy.
Hadramout, like other provinces such as Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, and Mahra, is suffering from increasing collapses in public services.
The power outage crisis continues for long hours without clear radical solutions, which exacerbates the population’s suffering and further complicates the difficult living conditions.
