HADRAMOUT, April 29 (YPA) – Several tribal gunmen launched on Tuesday a violent attack using various types of weapons on a coalition-run security point in Wadi Hadramout.
Local sources in the province said that the Balhamidh tribe, one of the Nahd tribes in the Qatan district, attacked the Public Security and Rescue Center in the Qatan area following an armed attack on a member of the tribe.
The sources clarified that the tribal fighters had managed to seize control of the Al-Ain checkpoint, which belongs to the police forces, without reporting any human losses.
They explained that tribal and military mediation had succeeded in halting the clashes, which lasted for nearly an hour and sparked panic and terror among citizens, noting that tensions between the tribes and elements loyal to the coalition being continued.
The sources added that the clashes coincided with intense US spy aircraft flying over the region. This came as a continuation of the security chaos in areas under coalition control, resulting from the absence of state authorities since the beginning of 2016.
