OCCUPIED QUDS, April 29 (YPA) – Jews belonging to the “Haredim” sect clashed on Monday with members of the Israeli police during a protest against military service, in front of the conscription office in the Tel Hashomer neighborhood near the city of Tel Aviv.
Videos from the protest site showed police officers attempting to remove protesters from a street they had blocked near the conscription office.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said, “A riot broke out outside an army recruitment center in Tel Hashomer (center), where members of the Haredim protested against an attempt to recruit them.”
The newspaper added that the protesters attempted to disrupt the recruitment process for the Haredi Netzah Yehuda Battalion, blocking roads, chanting slogans, and distributing anti-conscription signs.
As new soldiers entered the base, the protesters chanted slogans such as, “Don’t kill yourselves. This is hell. They are Nazis.”
