Protest rallies in American cities in solidarity with Gaza, rejecting Trump’s policies

SANAA, April 20 (YPA) – Massive protests went out to the streets of Washington and other cities across the United States to protest President Donald Trump’s policies related to deporting immigrants, firing government workers, and the wars in Gaza and Ukraine.

Media footage showed protesters standing outside the White House holding signs reading “Power must be with the workers,” “No to property,” and “Stop arming Israel.”

Some protesters chanted slogans in support of immigrants the Trump administration has deported or is trying to deport, and expressed solidarity with employees fired by the federal government and with universities whose funding Trump is threatening to defund.

“While Trump and his administration expand the use of the American deportation machine, we will work to create networks and develop systems of resistance to defend our neighbors,” one protester during a rally near the White House said to Reuters.

Other protesters waved Palestinian flags and wore the Palestinian keffiyeh, chanting “Free Palestine,” and expressing solidarity with Palestinians killed in the Israeli war on Gaza.

Trump and his billionaire ally Elon Musk have fired more than 200,000 government employees and attempted to dismantle several agencies since his inauguration in January.

In addition, the US administration is also detaining dozens of foreign students and threatening to cut federal funding to universities over diversity, equality, and inclusion programs, climate initiatives, and pro-Palestinian protests.
