SANAA, April 14 (YPA) – Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albarres said, on Monday, that the unbearable humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip must change.
The minister wrote in Arabic via X, following his meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Mustafa on the sidelines of the European Union-Palestine meeting, that his country is working to achieve a two-state solution with the establishment of a viable Palestinian state, stressing that Palestine needs peace and hope.
In June 2024, Spain submitted an official request to join the genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice, in accordance with the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and by resorting to Article 63 of the Court’s Statute.
In May 2024, Madrid, along with Norway and Ireland, announced its recognition of the State of Palestine.
Spain also received a number of wounded and sick children from the Gaza Strip, along with their relatives, for treatment in its hospitals.
