LEBANON, Mar. 18 (YPA) – The Lebanese-Syrian border witnessed, on Monday, serious developments, as the Lebanese army sent reinforcements to the region to face the tense situation.
The Lebanese army announced that it responded to the sources of fire coming from Syrian territory to stop the attacks on Lebanon. It explained that it reinforced the Hermel area by deploying special units after some of its positions were attacked from the Syrian side.
In a related context, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that seven people were killed and 52 others were injured as a result of recent developments on the Lebanese-Syrian border over the past two days.
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this evening that the Lebanese foreign minister met with his Syrian counterpart in Brussels, where they discussed the ongoing developments on the border between the two countries.
The ministry stated that the two sides agreed to continue consultations to preserve the sovereignty of both countries and prevent the escalation of the situation.
