Intermittent earthquakes raise terror in Gulf countries

RIYADH, Mar. 12 (YPA) – The Red Sea region, west of Saudi Arabia, experienced an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale in the past few hours.

The Yemeni Center for Monitoring and Studying Earthquake and Volcano, based in Dhamar province, reported that the earthquake occurred at 9:12 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the center’s seismic bulletin.

Meanwhile, the “IRSC” reported another marine earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale off the Saudi coast in the city of Jubail in the Eastern Province. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

The specialized centers expected the seismic energy to spread to various areas, including the Iran-Iraq border and the Iranian earthquake fault zone. The tremors could potentially spread to some Gulf countries, such as eastern Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, southern Iraq, Qatar, the UAE, and the Sultanate of Oman.
