UNRWA Commissioner: Gaza hunger crisis may return if Israeli blockade on aid continues

SANAA, March 11 (YPA) – The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza, Philippe Lazzarini, said on Monday, that there is a risk that Gaza will witness another hunger crisis if Israel continues to prevent the entry of aid.

“I think the longer the blocking of aid continues, the more we will see the impact on the population and clearly, the risk is that we will return to the situation we saw months ago with increasing hunger in the Gaza Strip,” he added.

At the same press conference in Geneva, Lazzarini described the agency’s financial situation as “critical and serious.”
