SANAA, March 10 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based General Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FYCCI) praised on Monday the statements of the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stéphane Dujarric, regarding the US designation and sanctions on Yemen.
The FYCCI called on in a statement all international organizations to make more efforts in this context, demanding that the US Treasury Department to reconsider the designation it recently issued, which included the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Ali Mohammed Al-Hadi, on the sanctions list, due to the consequences on the humanitarian and economic situation in Yemen.
Earlier, Dujarric said in a news conference that the Yemeni private sector must be kept away from any procedures or classifications that have consequences for the national economy.
He warned of any obstruction of the arrival of commercial goods to Yemen, which could have disastrous consequences as a result of the US Treasury Department’s designation.
Dujarric touched on the importance of the role of the Yemeni private sector in securing humanitarian needs.
