SANAA, March 09 (YPA) – Five Syrians, including three children, were killed, on Saturday, due to the explosion of objects from the remnants of war spread across vast geographical areas of Syrian territory, bringing the death toll from the remnants of war in Syria since the beginning of this year to 490 between martyrs and wounded.
The Syrian Observatory reported that two men were killed when a landmine left over from the war exploded in the vehicle they were traveling in, in the town of Al-Kom in the eastern countryside of Homs.
In another incident, three children were killed when a landmine from the remnants of war exploded in the town of Kafranbel in the southern Idlib countryside.
According to the Observatory’s documentation, the number of Syrian civilians who have been martyred since the beginning of this year has reached 233 people, in various Syrian governorates, as a result of the explosion of objects left over from the Syrian war, including 49 children and 8 women, in addition to 257 others being injured, including 109 children and 3 women.
The remnants of war have posed a constant threat to the lives of residents since the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, especially displaced people returning to their destroyed villages and former military areas.
The Syrian Observatory also documented the deaths of 86 civilians in 20 days of last December, including 64 men, 14 children, and 8 women, and the injury of 119 others, including 66 children and 6 women.
