Mass protests erupt in Al-Mukalla over power outages

HADEAMOUT,  March 02 (YPA) – The city of Al-Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut Governorate, witnessed massive protests on Saturday,  over continuous power outages and the deterioration of services.

Hundreds of young people took to the streets of the city, demanding that local authorities take urgent action to find sustainable solutions to the electricity crisis, which has worsened with rising temperatures, further exacerbating the suffering of residents.

The protesters expressed their frustration at the authorities’ disregard for their plight and the lack of tangible measures to improve other deteriorating basic services in the city.

These protests come amid rising public anger in southern Yemeni regions due to worsening living conditions, widespread corruption, and the lack of essential services.
