Israeli occupation forces assault Palestinian prisoners in Gilboa prison

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday assaulted on Palestinian prisoners in Gilboa Prison, which increased the level of tension inside the prison.

The Prisoners’ Affairs Authority reported that the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in the prison are getting worse, especially after the escalation of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The prisoners suffer from severe cold and difficulty in obtaining heating means, in addition to the policy of systematic starvation and continuous torture. The cells lack sufficient blankets and winter clothes, and the windows of the rooms are kept open without being allowed to be closed, which doubles their suffering from the cold.

The violations are not limited to daylight hours only, but night raids continue on a regular basis, especially before dawn. During one of the searches, the occupation forces assaulted the prisoners inside one of the rooms. The prison administration also continues to keep the lights on throughout the day to restrict their comfort.

On another level, the prisoners complain about the poor quality and insufficiency of the food, in addition to the failure of the prison administration to provide the most basic personal hygiene supplies, such as shaving and nail clippers, which have not been distributed for two months.

The occupation prisons have witnessed a major escalation in restrictions and abuse since the start of the recent aggression on Gaza, which further deteriorates the humanitarian conditions of the prisoners.

It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities are holding about 10,300 Palestinian prisoners in its prisons and detention centers, including 89 female prisoners and 345 children.
