Pro-coalition Islay Party factions abduct merchant in Taiz

TAIZ, Feb. 02 (YPA) – A merchant was kidnapped by gunmen belonging to the Islah Party factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in the Shamayatayn district of Taiz province in southern Yemen.

Human rights sources reported that the gunmen, who were driving a Hilux vehicle, kidnapped citizen Sand Abdullah Abdo Al-Kuri on Saturday from inside his shop in the center area of the Shamayatayn district, without clarifying the reasons behind this incident.

The gunmen stormed the shop and took the citizen to an unknown location amid the state of security chaos that the areas under the control of the coalition are suffering from, according to the sources.

The incident sparked great anger among the people and growing fears of a deterioration in the security situation as a result of the absence of the state and its agencies from those areas.

Human rights and civil society organizations have called for swift disclosure of incident details and the punishment of those responsible, with the necessity of enhancing security and providing protection for residents in the affected areas.
