“Hungry Revolution” in Taiz sets date for civil disobedience, general strike

TAIZ, Jan. 20 (YPA) – The “Hungry Revolution” movement announced on Sunday the date of the comprehensive civil disobedience in Taiz, Aden, and the rest of the southern provinces under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.

The movement issued a statement calling merchants and shop owners in those provinces to commit to a comprehensive closure and implement civil disobedience next Sunday, as circulated by activists.

The statement urged citizens to stage protests against the deteriorating value of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies and the increased prices of food and basic commodities due to the ongoing war and systematic starvation policies by the pro-coalition parties against civilians in those areas.
