ABYAN, Jan. 18 (YPA) – A number of Hassan Dam project engineers in Abyan province, south of Yemen, were subjected to a mass assassination attempt on Saturday.
Human rights sources affirmed that about five masked gunmen opened fire on a carrying four engineers car while they were heading to the Hassan Dam project site in the Al-Koud area.
The sources said the unknown gunmen pursued the engineers’ car to the entrance of Zinjibar district, the provincial capital of Abyan, without mentioning any injuries among the engineers.
This came amidst the province’s districts are being witnessed security chaos.
They noted that a battalion of the UAE-backed al-Amaliqa or Giants factions was allocated to protect workers and engineers and guard the equipment operating at the Dam project.
