Yemeni riyal falls further versus foreign currencies in Aden
ADEN, Dec. 15 (YPA) – The Yemeni riyal experienced a new collapse against foreign currencies in Aden city on Sunday, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition since mid-2015.
Banking sources in the city reported that the selling price of the dollar reached 2,070 riyals and 2,065 riyals for purchase, while the Saudi riyal is sold for 541 Yemeni riyals and bought for 540 Yemeni riyals, without any economic moves by the pro-coalition government.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni riyal in Sanaa and the rest of the areas under the control of the Supreme Political Council is maintained at 536 riyals for selling the dollar and 140 riyals for selling the Saudi riyal.
The collapse of the Yemeni riyal in Aden comes amid the inability of the pro-coalition government and the Central Bank of Aden to pay employee salaries and the growth of strikes and protests since the beginning of this month.
