WORLD, Dec. 04 (YPA) – The American newspaper Washington Post confirmed on Tuesday, that it had verified more than 120 images and videos of the war on Gaza, taken between October 2023 and October 2024, most of which were recorded by Israeli soldiers or shared publicly on their personal social media accounts.
The images show soldiers blowing up buildings or setting them on fire, often celebrating the destruction, occupying the ruined buildings, mocking Palestinians, and calling for the resettlement of Gaza.
The newspaper also conducted interviews with seven soldiers about their experiences in Gaza and reviewed public comments from leaders.
The report stated that “when considering these images and witness accounts together, it becomes clear that the war involved some soldiers committing misconduct on the battlefield. In some cases, like burning houses, soldiers claimed they were following direct orders.”
Legal experts who reviewed the videos collected by Washington Post noted that, in the most egregious cases, the soldiers were effectively documenting evidence of potential violations of international humanitarian law.
