Several STC’s militants injured in Abyan attack

ABYAN, Dec. 01 (YPA) – A number of militants, including a leader, were injured on Sunday in an attack targeting a military vehicle of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter said gunmen, who are believed to belong to terrorist elements, blew up the vehicle belonging to a battalion commander in the so-called “Third Support Brigade, using an explosive device at the entrance to the Jablah area in Mudiyah district.

The sources explained that a number of the STC’s vehicles rushed to the scene of the incident after the explosion was heard and the columns of smoke were raised.

A number of wounded were transported to get treatment, including the battalion commander whose name was not mentioned, the sources added.

Mudiyah has been witnessed armed attacks by terrorist elements against the STC factions since they announced Operation “Arrows of the East” to seize the Islah Party camps in Abyan in August 2022, leaving about 670 dead and wounded, in addition to the destruction of dozens of military vehicles, according to statistics by centers loyal to the STC.
