ABYAN, Nov. 18 (YPA) – The tribes of Abyan province imposed a stifling siege on the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions in the city of Aden, southern Yemen, for the second week in a row.
Local sources in the province confirmed that “Al-Jaadna” tribe militants prevented the passage of fuel and gas trucks towards Aden, to pressure for revealing the fate of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani, who was kidnapped and forcibly hidden since last June.
This comes after the announcement of a tribal alliance between the Al-Jaadna, Bakazim, and Laqmush tribes in Abyan, who stressed that they have no choice but to block roads for fuel and gas trucks after all peaceful options have exhausted.
The Al-Jaadna tribes organized protests in the parade square in Aden and Zinjbar in Abyan, amid the support and backing of the southern tribes, to demand revealing the fate of the kidnapped Ashal, without any response from the STC leaders, who did not pay any attention to the issue.
Thousands of people from Aden and the southern province are demanding the release of their relatives who have been detained and forcibly disappeared in the STC prisons in Aden since the beginning of 2016.
