BEIRUT, Oct. 03 (YPA) – Lebanese Health Minister Firas Al-Abyad reported on Thursday that 1,974 people, including 127 children and 261 women, had been killed and 9,384 wounded since the start of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced this morning that the number of victims of the Israeli raid on the Bachoura area near central Beirut had risen to nine dead and 14 wounded.

Israeli forces launch intensive raids targeting villages in southern and eastern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Today, Israeli occupation operations expanded to include the Al-Maisara area in the Keserwan barrens/Mount Lebanon and the town of Kayfoun in the Aley District.

Meanwhile, the southern Lebanon region is witnessing a field escalation after the Israeli army announced on September 30 the start of a ground operation against Hezbollah inside Lebanese territory.

Hezbollah announced on Thursday that it had repelled an advance attempt by Israeli forces at Fatima Gate and in Maroun al-Ras.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army admitted that eight of its soldiers, including officers, were killed and seven were seriously injured as a result of ambushes set up by Hezbollah for Israeli forces at more than one border town.
