Security Council to meet Friday on “Pager explosions” in Lebanon

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (YPA)  – Slovenia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Samuel Zugar, said on Wednesday that the UN Security Council will hold a meeting next Friday regarding the large-scale cyber attacks in Lebanon.

Reuters news agency quoted Samuel Zbogar, whose country holds the presidency of the Council for the month of September, in a statement, saying: “The UN Security Council will meet next Friday regarding the radio communications explosions in Lebanon that targeted Hezbollah.”

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, had warned earlier on Wednesday that the pager explosions targeting the Lebanese Hezbollah indicate “a serious danger of a dramatic escalation in Lebanon, and everything must be done to avoid this escalation.”
