Armed protests cut off coastal road in Shabwa

SHABWA, Sept. 09 (YPA) – A number of members of the Shabwani elite blocked the coastal road in Shabwa governorate for the second time in protest against their dismissal by the leadership of the UAE forces in the governorate.

The protesters from the Shabwani elements, in the “Balhaf axis” in the Radum district, demanded the leadership of the UAE forces, which are based in the Balhaf gas facility, to return them to their camps and pay their financial dues since early 2022 AD.

This came after a local mediator intervention with elite elements early last August to open the road and give them an opportunity to present their demands to the leadership of the UAE forces, to no avail.

The protesters in Shabwani elite vowed to block the road without return, amid demands to return them to their jobs and pay their dues instead of bringing in hundreds of members for recruitment in Shabwa.
