Human rights sources reveal the most dangerous perpetrators of torture crimes against abductees in Aden

ADEN, Aug. 06 (YPA) – Human rights sources have revealed the most dangerous element in torturing the abducted and forcibly disappeared inside the UAE-run prisons in the city of Aden in southern Yemen and the end he suffered after completing his mission.

The pace of southern demands to reveal the fate of hundreds of abductees who forcibly disappeared in the prisons of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) run by a number of Emirati officers increased after the incident of the kidnapping and disappearance of Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani in mid-June turned into a public opinion issue in the southern street.

The sources confirmed that Awad Al-Wahsh is one of the most prominent accused of committing torture crimes inside secret prisons and who was liquidated by the UAE in 2018 after carrying out dozens of murders against the abducted and forcibly disappeared inside the secret prisons run by the UAE in Aden since 2015.

According to the sources, the STC-affiliated leader, Yosran Al-Maqtari, recruited Al-Wahsh, who was working as a guard at the gate of the health complex in Al-Mansoura area in 2015, to liquidate and torture dozens of detainees in the secret “Wadah Hall” prison and another prison in the home of the security leader, Shalal Shaya, according to what was reported by the “Abna’a Aden” website.

The sources indicated that the UAE was able to recruit Al-Wahsh following an accusation of an assassination incident while he was in the Criminal Investigation Prison in Khormaksar and transferred him to the Saudi-led coalition camp prison in Al-Buraiqa area.

Al-Wahsh received attention from the Emirati officers, after which he was transferred to Shalal’s prison located inside his home and met with Al-Maqtari, who knew each other before, and recruited him into his cells and granted him full powers to torture detainees to death and liquidate dozens of them, including Naif Al-Qahbi from Yafea area, according to the sources.

The “Abna’a Aden” website reported that Al-Wahsh carried out his job within the UAE’s torture cells with unparalleled criminality, in the most heinous ways, to the point of throwing stones at the heads of detainees and severely beating them with whips, sticks, and iron chains until death, and Al-Wahsh’s name became associated with a bloody, murderous torturer.

The website added that Al-Wahsh, along with others, came daily to the prison cells to take the bodies of detainees who died under torture, either from illness, fear, or being affected by their wounds, indicating that in 2018, the bloody killer disappeared from Wadah Hall Prison suddenly, amid speculation that he was liquidated by Al-Maqtari after completing the mission assigned to him.
