19 Palestinian prisoners released after being tortured in occupation jails

GAZA, Aug. 01 (YPA) – About 19 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza were released on Thursday after they being subjected to torture and abuse at the hands of Israeli occupation jailers.

This came amid successive reports about the crimes being committed by the occupation against Palestinian prisoners who have been kidnapped from the besieged Strip.

The released prisoners arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, after passing through the gate of the “Kisufim” military site east of the city, according to Anadolu News Agency.

The released Palestinian prisoners are suffering from poor health conditions, and they revealed that they were subjected to horrific practices and various cruel torture methods in the Israeli occupation’s prisons during their detention, including starvation, hanging, beating and humiliation, according to the agency.

A few days ago, a wounded Palestinian prisoner arrived at an Israeli hospital in poor condition after being sexually assaulted inside the “Sde Teiman” prison, which lacks the minimum standards of humane treatment of prisoners.

A report was issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights revealed that the Israeli occupation had deported thousands of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and taken them to detention centers inside the occupied Palestinian territories, where they are subjected to torture and abuse using waterboarding and the release of dogs, in addition to sexual assaults, which resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of them.

The report explained that Palestinian prisoners are “often blindfolded and handcuffed before being transferred to Israeli detention centers, placed in cage-like military centers, and forced to remain naked for long periods, wearing only diapers.”

According to the UN report, 53 Palestinian prisoners were martyred during their detention due to Israeli violations.

For the 300th consecutive day, the Israeli occupation has been continuing to commit horrific massacres as part of its genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, targeting inhabited homes, medical and journalistic crews, and shelters.
