Gaza-based hospitals suffer from severe shortage of medicines

GAZA, June 25 (YPA) – Gaza-based Ministry of Health declared on Tuesday that hospitals and health centers in the Strip are suffering from a severe shortage of medicines and necessary medical supplies.

The ministry called in a statement the concerned authorities to “quickly intervene.
“As a result of closure of all crossings in the Strip and continued targeting by the Israeli occupation against the medical sector in Gaza, all hospitals and health centers are suffering from an acute shortage of medicines and medical supplies necessary to continue providing the medical services necessary to save the lives of patients and injured, which has become Its balance is zero or almost exhausted, the statement said.

It added: “The most prominent medications that are about to run out or whose balance has become zero are reception, emergency, anesthesia, intensive care, and operations medications, as well as oncology patients who were unable to travel.”

Nearly 1,000 dialysis patients are at risk of death, the statement warned.

The ministry’s statement appealed to all international institutions and concerned parties “to quickly intervene and provide the necessary needs of medicines and medical supplies to save the lives of patients and injured people.”

Earlier, the ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed its intention to continue its humanitarian and medical duty despite the harsh conditions and the systematic Israeli targeting of the health sector in Gaza.
