Iraqi government calls for Arab, Islamic, regional movement to prevent genocide in Palestine

BAGHDAD, May 30 (YPA) – The Iraqi government on Wednesday called for a responsible Arab, Islamic, and regional movement at the popular and official levels to prevent the ongoing genocide being committed by the Zionist enemy in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Iraqi government spokesman Basim Al-Awadi said the movement aims to put an end to the blatant disregard for international and humanitarian norms and to avoid the irresponsible spread of conflict in the region, which would plunge it into an endless cycle of violence.

He also appreciates the recent positions of several friendly countries that have recognized the State of Palestine on its historic land.

This recognition stands in clear contrast to the indifferent policies of certain international powers that have either supported the aggression or remained silent, with some even going so far as to justify these crimes.

Following the issuance of an International Court of Justice ( ICJ) order for the Zionist enemy to halt the military attack on Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani welcomed the decision, affirming that it reflects “the living conscience of the world.”

Iraq’s representative to the International Court of Justice, Haider Shia’ Al-Barrak, asserted that the Zionist entity is committing numerous violations of the principles of international law and must be held accountable, stressing the need to “support the Palestinian people before the court.”

This announcement comes as the Zionist enemy continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip for the 236th day.
