Economic deterioration targets citizens on first day of Eid al-Fitr in Aden

ADEN, April 10 (YPA) – A number of citizens in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the coalition, confirmed on Wednesday their inability to buy meat for their children on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, due to economic deterioration and high cost of living.

Activists explained on social media outlets that meat prices have reached astronomical prices, with the price per kilo exceeding 19,000 YER, which equals $75.89, an unprecedented rise.
They indicated that many citizens tended to buy chicken and fish instead of meat, even though their prices are getting also high.

The activists pointed out that the rise in prices is not limited to meat, but rather sweets, which are considered one of the basics of celebrating Eid al-Fitr, amid the collapse of the local currency against the dollar, whose price is reached 1,685 riyals.

The coalition-held Aden and the rest of the southern provinces are witnessing economic collapse and the deterioration of various basic services without any economic reforms by the coalition, amid false promises since the beginning of 2016.
