SANAA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons, Paula Gaviria Bettencourt, said on Tuesday that the Israeli entity had failed to adhere to procedures approved by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
This came at a time when Reuters reported that South Africa submitted an urgent request to the ICJ regarding the Israeli attack on Rafah city of Gaza.
The Israeli attack on Rafah threatens genocide in light of the presence of more than 1.5 million displaced people in the city.
On January 26, the ICJ confirmed that the Israeli occupation must take all stipulated measures to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip, stressing that it must do so “immediately.”
The ICJ added that the occupation must submit a report to the court regarding all temporary measures imposed within a month, calling for taking immediate measures to improve the humanitarian situation and prevent destruction in the Gaza Strip.
