IAEA warns of upcoming nuclear war in Middle East

VIENNA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, warned on Tuesday of the expansion of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, pointing out that it may take on nuclear dimensions.

Grossi said on the sidelines of the government summit in Dubai that “diplomacy is the solution in dealing with Iran regarding its nuclear file,” as quoted by Sky News Arabia.

The international official called on the Iranian authorities to cooperate with the IAEA regarding its nuclear program.

In his speech, Grossi touched upon the Russian-Ukrainian war, saying that there are risks from the continuation of the war in Ukraine and noting that the situation at the Zaporizhya station is “fragile and unstable.”

He stated that the agency seeks to prevent any nuclear accidents that have major consequences.
