WORLD, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Turkish authorities have captured two gunmen who attacked a church in Istanbul, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, in an attack claimed by Daesh.
Yerlikaya said police had raided 30 locations and detained a total of 47 people as part of the investigation into the attack.
He added the attack took place around 0840 GMT at the Italian Santa Maria Catholic Church in Istanbul’s Sariyer district, and that one Turkish citizen — who was targeted by the gunmen — was killed while attending the service.
Earlier, Turkish media reported the killing of one person and the injury of others in an armed attack claimed by the terrorist organization “ISIS,” targeting the Catholic church “Santa Maria” during Sunday Mass in Istanbul.
