WORLD, Jan. 18The United States Central Command confirmed in a statement that an American commercial ship suffered “some damage” as a result of an attack off the coast of Yemen.
The Yemeni forces had previously announced targeting the American ship “Jenco Picardi” in the Gulf of Aden using naval missiles, confirming that the hit was accurate and direct.
The statement indicated that the attack was carried out by a drone in the Gulf of Aden.
There were no injuries and some damage reported in the attack, the statement read.
The vessel, M/V Genco Picardy, is “a Marshall Islands-flagged, US-owned and operated bulk carrier ship,” according to the statement.
It’s worth noting that this incident occurred within the context of regional tensions and ongoing events in the area.
