Cold wave expected to target various provinces of Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 08 (YPA) – A cold wave will be expected to sweep several provinces of Yemen during the coming 24 hours, the National Center of Meteorology said on Monday.

The center explained, in its weather bulletin, the cold weather may hit the province of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda and Dhalea, with the possibility of frost forming in parts of them.

Cold weather is also expected in the highlands of the provinces of Hajjah, Mahweet, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Lahj and Abyan, as well as the plateaus and deserts of Jawf, Marib, Shabwa, Hadramout and Mahra, with winds blowing at speeds ranging between 17-27 knots around the Socotra Archipelago, the southern and western coasts and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.

It called on citizens, especially the elderly, children and patients in mountainous areas, to wear appropriate winter clothing in order to preserve their health and prevent cold waves.
