RAMALLAH, Jan. 06 (YPA) – The Palestinian presidency said on Saturday that “Israel” is practicing “silent annexation” of the West Bank with more settlements, in parallel with its war on the Gaza Strip.
This came in statements by the official spokesman for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeina, reported by the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa.
Abu Rudeina added: “At a time when the Israeli occupation authorities are escalating their comprehensive war on the Palestinian people and committing genocide crimes in the Gaza Strip, they are practicing silent annexation in the West Bank by increasing the number of random settlements and the forced displacement of the Palestinian population, especially in the Jordan Valley areas.”
He warned of the danger of the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the increase in random settlements in the West Bank.
Abu Rudeina continued, “The policy followed by the occupation authorities, which violates all international legitimacy resolutions, most notably UN Resolution No. 2334, will not impose a fait accompli on the Palestinian people, because they are the decision makers and the makers of the future.”
He stressed that “the future of the Palestinian land in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Quds, is decided solely by the Palestinian people, not the occupation, its criminal policies, nor any other external party.”
Abu Rudeina called on the US administration to intervene immediately and oblige the occupation authorities to immediately stop their aggression against the Palestinian people and stop settlement expansion in all its forms, “because its continuation means dragging the region into a situation that cannot be controlled in any way.”
He pointed out that the continuation of this Israeli policy, supported by America, “will not achieve security and stability for anyone here or in the region.”
