ADEN, Nov. 28 (YPA) – A number of officials loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, including Rashad Al-Alimi, the head of “The Presidential Leadership Council” and Maeen Abdul-Malik, the head of the pro-coalition government, managed on Tuesday to escape during the past hours through Aden airport to various destinations, ahead of an uprising that is expected to hit the city in the coming days.
The officials left Aden airport under different names and destinations and suddenly days before an upcoming uprising against the pro-coalition government, called for by the people of Aden at the behest of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), in conjunction with the 56th anniversary of the independence of southern Yemen from the British occupation on November 30, 1967.
The sources confirmed that Al-Alimi left Aden airport suddenly to the UAE to participate in the so-called “Climate Summit” that will be held in the UAE city of Dubai from November 30 to December 12.
The same sources explained that Prime Minister Maeen Abdel Malik left the same airport for Cairo without mentioning the occasion, in addition to a number of pro-coalition officials.
The departure of Al-Al-Alimi and Moeen Abdul-Malik came after widespread calls for an uprising, the sources said.
The call for demonstrations against the pro-coalition government came due to the catastrophic collapse of all basic services, including electricity and the import of an adulterated fuel shipment, in addition to the rise in food prices due to the continuous deterioration of the local currency against the US dollar, whose price exceeded 1, 520 riyals, compounding the suffering of the citizens and had a negative impact on the economy.
