Colombia announces its intention to open embassy in Ramallah

SANAA, Oct. 21 (YPA) – Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced on Thursday that his country will open an embassy in the Palestinian city of Ramallah, following his meeting with officials at the Israeli and Palestinian embassies in Bogota.

This came in a post on his account in the “X” platform, in which he shared photographs taken with the Zionist entity ambassador, Gali Dagan, and Palestinian ambassador, Rauf Al-Malki.

“I expressed my position on reaching an international peace conference that would pave the way for the establishment of two independent and free states,” Petro said in his post.

He added: “I stressed my solidarity with Palestinian children, who must live in peace. We will send a plane carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. Colombia will open its embassy in Ramallah, Palestine.”

Relations between Colombia and the Zionist entity are witnessing tension after a post by Petro on October 9 through his account on the “X” website, in which he criticized the Israeli response to the Hamas attack and published a picture of Palestinian children killed as a result of the Israeli attacks.

In response to Petro’s post, the Israel occupation entity announced the cessation of its military exports to Colombia, which in turn responded and decided to “suspend foreign relations with Israel.”
