OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Oct. 16 (YPA) – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced on Monday that Israeli occupation forces arrested about 70 Palestinians in the West Bank, including two women from Al-Quds, two journalists, and former prisoners.
The Prisoner’s Club stated in its statement: “The arrests were distributed in most of the West Bank governorates, including Al-Quds.”
The war on Gaza Strip has entered its tenth day since the start of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” launched by the Hamas movement on October 7, amid a siege and cutting off basic supplies to the Strip.
According to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll from the Israeli bombing has risen to 2,750 dead and about 9,700 wounded in the Gaza Strip, and 58 dead and more than 1,250 wounded in the West Bank.
The statement added: “The arrest campaigns in the West Bank are the highest in years, as the number of arrests since October 7 has reached about 540 people, concentrated in the Hebron and Al-Quds governorates, in addition to the detained workers, and detainees from Gaza, whose exact numbers and identities are not yet known.”
The arrest operations included all groups, including children, women, and the elderly, and the occupation forces adopted during them a policy of threats, severe beatings against detainees, and widespread acts of sabotage and destruction of homes, the statement explained.
Arrests in the West Bank have reached more than 6,000 since the beginning of the year.
