UAE transfers several forcibly disappeared individuals to notorious prison in Aden

ADEN, Sept. 26 (YPA) – The UAE has transferred a number of forcibly disappeared persons to one of the “notorious” prisons it runs in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.

Human rights sources in the city said on Tuesday that those responsible for the file of disappeared persons run by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s (STC) factions transferred a number of forcibly disappeared persons during the past few days to Bir Ahmed prison after spending years under torture, cruelty, and degrading treatment to human dignity.

Some of the forcibly disappeared people were thrown into the streets of Aden while they were in poor health, some of them unconscious and suffering from psychological illnesses due to torture, the sources added.

The sources pointed out that there are dozens of forcibly disappeared people in Aden whose families do not know their whereabouts since 2015, amid demands for their release.

Human rights activists in Aden reported that 80% of forcibly disappeared people in the city come from Abyan Governorate, often suffering from poor health conditions and psychological issues due to brutal torture they have endured in recent years.
