Four death cases of dengue fever recorded in city of Ataq

SHABWA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – At least four death and more 264 cases of dengue fever have been recorded in the city of Ataq, the center of oil-rich Shabwa governorate, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.

Statistics issued by the health office in the province confirmed the registration of 4 deaths and 264 cases of dengue fever in Ataq from the beginning of last August until September 19, amid the abject failure of the Ministry of Health in the pro- coalition government to control the disease without providing medicines to health centers in the city.

Dengue fever was a health disaster for the people of Ataq, which showed the great helplessness of the Shabwa authorities affiliated with the coalition, amid raising questions where the revenues of the province’s oil wealth go.

On Tuesday, a late meeting held by health officials with the World Health Organization since the outbreak of dengue fever in Ataq in mid-June resulted in the formation of a technical committee to study initial preventive measures and protect citizens.
