Protesters close branch of Central Bank in Mahra

MAHRA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – Dozens of angry protesters closed on Wednesday the first branch of the Yemen Central Bank in Mahra province, eastern Yemen, against the backdrop of non-payment of their financial dues.

Local sources in the city of Al-Ghaydah, the provincial capital of Mahra, reported that dozens of members of the province’s Contractors Union closed the gate of the bank and held banners demanding to pay their entitlements after 4 years of procrastination by the coalition-run local authorities.

The protesters called on the leadership of the local authorities to direct the bank to disburse their dues in order to enable them to pay the debts they have incurred the implementation of the projects over the past years.
