SANAA, Aug. 24 (YPA) – The Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in Sanaa warned on Wednesday of the catastrophic consequences of reducing humanitarian aid for millions of affected people in Yemen.
In a statement issued today, the Council referred to the exacerbation of the worst human suffering in the world experienced by the Yemeni people as a result of the aggressive war and blockade for nine years.
The Council attributed Yemen’s humanitarian situation deterioration to deliberate actions of Saudi-led coalition countries, which use the humanitarian card as a pressure card to bring the Yemeni people to their knees.
In its statement, the Council urged donors and the United Nations to mobilize funds and fulfill their obligations to the Yemeni people by providing aid to millions affected to alleviate human suffering.
The statement held the coalition countries fully responsible for the consequences of using the humanitarian card as a war card to starve the Yemeni people, stopping funding, and putting pressure on the UN to reduce aid.
The Council called on the international community to pressure the coalition countries to lift the blockade and neutralize the humanitarian file, avoiding using it as a political tool.
