Houses burned due to lighting strikes in Sanaa

SANAA, Aug 13 (YPA) – A series of lighting strikes hit on Saturday some homes of citizens in the Sa’afan area, Haraz district in Sanaa governorate, local sources reported.

According to the local sources, the house of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Saeed Raim in the village of Raym in the area of Saafan,  was hit with a lightning strike, sparking house fire.

The sources explained that the house is reinforced with an insulation (anti-lightning), however, material damage occurred and there is no human damage.

They also reported that another house was also struck by lightning strikes on Saturday afternoon. The three-storey house was burned down due to fife cause the lighting strikes.

The sources confirmed that the children and their mother were not injured as they were outside the house when the lighting strikes hit the house.

The sources calling on the competent authorities to enhance the role of community awareness of disasters resulting from lighting strikes continuously, as the victims for this year exceed fifteen deaths, as well as many houses were destroyed in the area of Saafan .
