MARIB, June 26 (YPA) – The largest tribes of Marib province vowed on Sunday to expel the Islah factions from their areas in the oil-rich province.
The tribes of Wadi Obeida, in a statement, condemned the recent attack launched by the Islah forces on tribal villages in the valley district, affirming that their areas have become unsafe due to what they described as aggressive attacks by the Islah factions.
The tribes stressed that they will take strict measures to defend their areas and properties in order to impose security and stability, in an explicit threat to expel the Islah factions from the Obeida district.
On Friday, The Islah Party factions attacked gatherings of the Al Fejai tribe near the Wadi district, after the tribe’s refusal to establish checkpoints inside their areas.
The sources said that the Islah factions used heavy weapons and armored vehicles in the attack, which led to the death of nine members of the Obeida tribesmen.
According to the sources, six members of the Islah Party were killed, while 18 others were wounded from both sides.
The threats come amid ongoing tensions between the tribes of Marib and the Saudi-led coalition factions, with the latter seeking to strike and dismantle the tribal cohesion to control the oil-rich province.
