STC forces raid citizens’ homes in Shabwa

SHABWA, June 25 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces launched a raiding campaign targeting citizens’ houses in the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province in southern Yemen.

This came after the killing of the commander of the 21st Brigade affiliated with the STC, Hassan Shumaila, by gunmen near the city of Ataq.

The so-called “Shabwa Defense” forces loyal to the UAE raided homes south of Ataq, allegedly pursuing elements involved in Shumaila’s assassination, according to local sources.

The UAE-backed faction’s groups also deployed a number of armored vehicles and military vehicles at the entrances and exits of the city, the sources added.

This coincided with the escalation of tensions between the Saudi-led coalition factions in the oil-rich province, amid expectations of renewal battles there in light of the mutual military build-ups.
