Socotra people refuse to submit to UAE’s monopoly on trade, services

SOCORTA, June 13 (YPA) – Activists from the occupied Yemeni island of Socotra, on social media, complained about the practices of the UAE that violating the rights of the island’s people with the aim of bringing society to its knees due to its control over trade and basic services.

Activists explained how the UAE controlled trade and services such as “electricity, oil and food” in the Socotra archipelago and monopolized them in favor of a single investor who controls the entire market on the Island.

According to activists, the UAE aims from all these practices to “bring to its knees and humiliate a Satqari community” and subject it to what it wants.

They stressed that the UAE deliberately distorted everything beautiful in the archipelago.

The people of Socotra rejected for all  violations and practices carried out by the UAE with the support  local authorities, according to the activists.
