3 killed, 5 injured in al-Qaeda attack in Shabwa

SHABWA, June 11 (YPA) – At least three were killed and five others injured in an attack launched by al-Qaeda elements on  the UAE-backed factions in Shabwa province.

According to the sources, Al-Qaeda elements carried out an attack on checkpoint belonging to Shabwa defense camp in the Al-Musaina’a area of Al-Sa’eed district, and clashed the member of the checkpoint, killing two and wounding three others.

A-Qaeda elements destroyed three military pickup vehicles and a weapons depot, the sources added.

One attacker was killed and two wounded during the clashes, the sources said.

The attack took place a day after the funeral of Islah Party leader Abdullah al-Bani, was held .

Al-Bani  was killed in an ambush of the Shabwa defense forces on the morning of Eid al-Fitr in Bayhan district.
