Coalition threatens to take measures against STC

ADEN, 06 (YPA) – Pro-coalition government threatened on Tuesday to take measures against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in Aden city, south of Yemen.

Media outlets in Aden said that deputy minister of finance in the Aden government affirmed, during his participation in a meeting with US officials who arrived as part of a delegation led by ambassador Steven Fagin, that his ministry facing a deficit in the salaries and electricity sectors, in a clear indication of its intention to abandon those sectors that the STC would hold its responsibility in Aden.

This came in the wake of the failure of the United States to put pressure on the authority of the pro-UAE STC to transfer its revenues to the government account.

An American delegation had arrived in Aden as part of attempts to alleviate the financial crisis that the government is going through.

The delegation tried to pressure the pro-STC governor in Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, to supply the revenues to the accounts of Aden government, who has left the city for weeks with the confirmation of his government’s bankruptcy.
