Southern component calls for confronting Saudi-led coalition in Aden

ADEN, May 15 (YPA) – The “Southern Revolutionary Movement” called on Monday for an armed uprising in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, which has been under the control of the Saudi-led coalition factions since the second half of 2015.

In a tweet on Twitter the spokesman for the revolutionary movement, Muhammad al-Nu’mani, addressed the people of Aden by saying: “If you want freedom and the restoration of Aden, you must have a popular uprising, expel the fake legitimacy, the leadership council, government and the transitional council.”

Al-Numani added that the people of Aden have a choice; either to stage a popular uprising with weapons, or remain under the control of the factions affiliated with the coalition.

In another tweet, Al-Numani stated that there are extensive preparations to declare a new movement in the “Southern Yemeni Democratic Assembly,” which is the “National Dialogue” component, away from external bullying.

He indicated that the Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which control the southern provinces, had worked to silence all the southern political components.

This comes amid the escalation of tension in Aden as a result of Saudi Arabia and the UAE’s collective punishment of the population, and the deterioration of various basic services, including the electricity system.
