Sudan’s parties to conflict accuse each other of committing violations against civilians

WORLD, May 13 (YPA) – The Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have accused each other of committing violations against civilians and lawlessness in areas of armed conflict despite of signing a so-called declaration of principles in ” in the Saudi city of Jeddah late on Thursday

The Sudanese army said in a statement on Friday: “The RSF are clearly violating the law of armed conflict as they use civilians as human shields and prevent them from fleeing the neighborhoods where their employees are hiding.”

“The RSF uses residential buildings belonging to citizens and turns them into sniper positions and positions to protect its forces from regular army raids,” he said.

For its part, the RSF said: ” the army occupies most of the capital’s hospitals and medical staff in it by force to provide medical services to its employees and uses hospitals and service facilities for military work.”

This comes after representatives of the two sides signed on Thursday a preliminary declaration of principles in the Saudi city of Jeddah, committing them to protect civilians and end the fighting that has been ongoing since mid-April.
