Abyan tribes get ambushed by UAE militias

ABYAN, April 30 (YPA) – A number of sheikhs of Abyan province were subjected on Sunday to a surprise ambush by the UAE-backed militia during their return to the province.

Adel al-Hassani, a southern activist, confirmed on Twitter that Emirati vehicles opened a barrage of fire at a convoy of Abyan tribes, including Sheikh Ali al-Qafish, al-Awban and al-Zamki, in Sheikh Salem area of Zinjibar district, during their return from Aden city to receive the free prisoner, Major General Faisal Rajab.

“The situation is still tense between the militia members and the militants of the Abyan tribes in the Sheikh Salem area, the center of the province,” he added.

Al-Hassani pointed out that the release of Rajab, who was excluded from the lists of prisoner exchange deal, was a painful blow to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias.
